A small family-run Catholic business based in Ireland.
Marcela’s Devotionals is a small family-run Catholic business based in Ireland, born from my love for Our Lady, my faith, and a simple wish to create something beautiful in her honour.
A few years ago, I was looking for scapulars for myself and my children. I wanted something special, beautifully made, strong and durable, with a little pocket where we could keep our blessed medals close to our hearts.
I searched for a long time but couldn’t find quite what I had in mind, so I decided to make them myself.
As sewing and embroidery had always been something I loved, I bought beautiful 100% wool, embroidered images of Our Lady and Our Lord, and added little pockets for the medals.

One order led to another, and before I knew it, more and more people were asking for them.
At one stage, I became worried that my little embroidery machine would not be able to manage the growing number of orders. I stopped sewing and prayed to Our Lady, asking her to help me find a way to buy a bigger machine.
About twenty minutes later, I received a large order. When I went online afterwards, the very first machine I found cost exactly the same amount as that order.
I have never forgotten that moment.
To me, it was a beautiful sign that Our Lady had heard my prayer and was encouraging me to continue.
Over the years, my scapulars have travelled to many parts of the world, and the collection has grown to include rosaries, burial shrouds and other devotional pieces.
The work
More than sewing
For me, this work is much more than simply sewing or running a business.

I often spend the time praying, reflecting or listening to Gregorian chant,
Into everything I make
and I hope that something of that love and prayer finds its way into everything I make.
I truly believe the talents God has given me are a gift, and my greatest wish is to use them for His greater glory and in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
